Rush Hour – Laos Style!

This is one place on earth that should be on everyone’s bucket list!

Is it the serenity of the rivers or is it their religion? – It doesn’t really matter but in Lao PDR (People’s Democratic Republic) the local advice – Please Don’t Rush’ – should be taken seriously!

You could easily spend a few weeks in Laos – it takes several days to visit the main tourist centres and attractions alone.   Vientiane is lovely and the food is great.   You have to get to the river town of Luang Prabang where you will rise at dawn for the alms giving ceremony and spend your money in the fabulous night market.  You can travel to the exotic sounding Plain of Jars or chill for a few days at 4000 Islands.   You won’t get your traditional beach holiday in this landlocked country but you’ll get rivers,  waterfalls,  elephants,  temples…..

While it makes for a great stand alone destination,  its usually combined with one or more of its neighbours  – Thailand,  Vietnam or,  as in our case,  Cambodia.
