I am the proud owner of what has to be the tackiest Christmas tree on the planet! I’ve been bringing home decorations for years – some are the real deal but there has been a lot of improvising! There’s almost always something to be found that can be adapted – key rings are my least favourite option but of course I’ve dozens of them dressed up with ribbon instead of chains. Anything can go on my tree as long as it has a ribbon!
Papier Mache from Kashmir
Beautiful patchwork from the Amish Community in Pennsylvania
My snowmen are celebrating their 30th birthdays – I got them in Hong Kong in 1988!
Masai beading from Tanzania
Lava from Vesuvius
Angkor Wat
America is really easy…too easy… I’ve dozens of decs….this lot includes a plate from Montecello, a surfboard from Hawaii, a Monument Valley drum, a dream catcher (from Wyoming I think), golfing Santa from Pebble Beach, shredded currency from Washington DC and decorations from Route 66, Vegas and Devil’s Tower.
Some favourites – painted papyrus and a fishing basket from Laos
Guatemalan dollies and bus!
Its usually easy enough to find something in Europe – even if it’s only a key ring…
Moose and house from Newfoundland
A sandal from Bali and Petronas Towers KL
Rajasthan – peacock, taxi, elephant garland and the Taj!
Morocco – window panel and slipper
No introduction needed…
Namibia was tricky but then I found the carved palm nut and one of our lodges was selling rattan napkin holders ….
Birds from Costa Rica…. I dropped the hummingbird after taking this photo and he no longer has a beak!!
….and their distant cousin!
Tiki – from Tahiti
Some bling ..Burj Khalifa
Elephants and dragons from Sri Lanka
I love my little sand bottle from Jordan but its actually too heavy for most branches!
Coral from Bora Bora
And….and…..and….
This year’s additions … not the most exciting and a lot of key rings! The heart shaped dish is from Boston – it will join a stone house from Puglia, key rings from Tennessee and Monet’s Garden and an Omani dagger magnet on this year’s tree!
NOLLAIG SHONA DAOIBH GO LÉIR!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
XXX MARIE XXX
Never tacky Mar
Well there’s always space on the tree for a certain tapestry that someone made many years ago!!

I’ve just started getting them down from the attic again.. with a few new bits – not much…
