Delving into Bruges – her Streetscapes

While Bruges was occupied by German forces during both World Wars,  it was spared destruction.   In 1944,  the German Commander Immo Hopman ignored orders to destroy Bruges before allied troops arrived.   So her medieval centre remained intact and today the historical buildings,  cobbled streets and picturesque canals are protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  1. Fantastic photos, Marie. I loved exploring every nook and cranny in Bruges and couldn’t get enough if its beautiful cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Thanks for sharing and have a good day. Aiva
