This weekly challenge is hosted by Mind over Memory
You will find this piece on the Paseo Nuevo in San Sebastian, Spain.
Construcción Vacía (Empty Construction) is one of a series of steel structures from 1957 by Basque sculptor Jorge Oteiza. Doesn’t it look all the more ominous and foreboding against the threatening sky!
If you’d also like to take part:-
- Share a photo of a sculpture
- Link to the Mind over Memory post for Saturday Sculpture
Wow–that’s really cool.
Impressive isn’t it!
Thank you! That’s one of my favourite sculptures from one of my favourite cities.
We were only there once, and got very bad weather, but still loved it. Definitely going back some day.
The Basque Country is green for a reason!
☔️☔️☔️ The story of my life!!! 😂
😎
I have a photo of me under there from two years..we loved San Sebastián. The food is so good
Ah those pinchos!!!!!
Yes, it does look ominous, and as it was in 1957 it was quite probably of the Falange school which could account for that.
The sculptor was certainly of that era.
That’s a very interesting looking sculpture. Have to see if there are any sculptures, except for Yeats statue, in Sligo. Thanks for sharing, Marie and have a good evening 😊 Aiva
There you go – you have a new mission!! Looking forward to getting out and about a bit more and seeing what I can locate in Dublin. XXXMarie
Wow the sky is amazing!
Suits the image but not a sky I’d usually opt for!!!!
