Small, Smaller or Smallest!

This week’s theme from Debbie for One Word Sunday is SMALL, SMALLER OR SMALLEST.

And its a bit of a rotter!

I know its called One Word but I’m going for all three!!

This is what I came up with…..

SMALL

This car ferry in Ireland’s south-west operates seasonally between Valentia Island and the mainland. It can carry 15 cars.

SMALLER

To reach the Mayan Temple site of Xunantunich in Belize, one must cross the Mopan River by hand-cranked ferry. It can take 4-6 cars at a time.

SMALLEST

This is a Barkajoli – a ferryman in Zadar, Croatia, who carries passengers between the mainland and the peninsula.

  1. Top marks for fulfilling the challenge and finding photos to match your words. Just one query. Isn’t Valentia spelt with a ‘t’. It used to be when I was much, much younger but I know spellings change over time.

    1. I’d never think of that on the day…. the challenge is listed in advance so there’s time to go through photos… XXXMarie

  2. If I remember correctly, there is also a bridge to reach Valentia Island, the ferry is just a shortcut. And I also took that ferry to Xunantunich 🙂

    1. Absolutely – and the ferry is seasonal. Its only about a 30 minute drive so I presume a lot of business is novelty rather than necessity! I loved the Xunantunich ferry … now all you have to do is seek out that ferryman in Zadar!!!

      1. I drove through Zadar, it’s even possible that I spent a night there, but I didn’t have the need for that crossing. There are so many beautiful cities on the Croatian coast!

      2. Great place – we’ve been there twice – next time I think we’ll just concentrate on Istria…. XXXMarie
