PULL UP A SEAT PHOTO CHALLENGE 2021: #22

A PHOTO CHALLENGE OF PLACES WE SIT…OR MIGHT SIT…OR ART ABOUT SITTING

This is a set of prisoner weighing scales in Spike Island Prison, Cork, Ireland. Dating from the late 1800’s, they represent a shift in penal policy towards reform rather than punishment. Prisoners were weighed upon arrival and again when they were being discharged to ensure they hadn’t experienced excessive weight loss during their incarceration.

To play along:

XingfuMama posts every Friday morning.

*Create a post with a photo of places one sits or might sit, or art about sitting, and maybe a little background or story about the spot or a picture of the view.

*Add a tag “Pull up a seat”.

*Add a link to your post in the comment section, either by writing a comment with your URL or by creating a pingback
