I love this piece – located in the market area of Ennis – a town in County Clare in the west of Ireland…..
….. the deal is CLOSED with a spit in the hand followed with a shake.
The scene depicts two men finalising the sale of a cow.
The cow is none too happy about it!!!!

A unique but apt interpretation, Marie. I wouldn’t have gotten it without your explanation but once I read it, it made perfect sense and I know that used to be the way to “seal the deal”. Imagine a world where you could count on someone’s word! Wouldn’t that be lovely?!!

Nice one Marie. A much more suitable sculpture for the market place in Ennis. It replaces a sculpture of Icarus which didn’t meet with much local approval!!!
I never saw this until last month. That Icarus piece is impressive though – I didn’t see it on my walkabout – it must be out on the by pass now??
