From Jude….
This month we will be looking for Black or Grey. Black is not a colour at all. Theoretically it is the absence of all colour. Yet black is distinctive. Lines are bolder, shadows deeper, colours brighter against a black background.
‘There’s a reason we don’t see the world in black and white’ (Celerie Kemble)
This month is not about creating black and white photographs, but in finding the true blacks or greys in a colourful world.

This monthly challenge comes from Jude at Travel Words. To take part, just post your colour photos and link to Life in Colour
A nice post of pretty pictures! Cheers
Thank you!!
You are welcome!
Now I will be looking for the true black in every photo I see. 😉
I was surprised at how little black I actually had – I suppose the eye isn’t drawn towards it….
I think looking at a picture/drawing/whatever in different ways is interesting. I will be aware of this now. Always something new to learn. 🙂
I love reusing the same photo for different themes and challenges – as you say, it’s means looking at the image in different ways.
Great post!
Thanks John!
Great blacks and once again cleverly curated. Had to laugh at those crazy guinea fowl in the middle of the road not quite knowing which direction to run in!
I love them too!!!! Early morning Namibia!!
Living on the west coast has its disadvantages.
Great collection. That ostrich caught my attention.
Aren’t they such splendid, handsome creatures….
You put together such amazing selections of photos for the challenge! My favourite one is the lone black boat in a narrow channel. It is stunning!
And then there are the sunsets…..
Usually I’d be looking at sunsets for the colour – interesting to choose the photos from the other point of view…
I love that one – it was taken in a very remote part of Donegal – up in Ireland’s north west.
