This is Archer II by sculptor Niall O’Neill. The Archer is located in Dun Laoghaire and looks out over Dublin Bay.
Made from white concrete and steel, the work deals with tension and the release of energy.

He certainly dominates his area! I like the space around it but I’m not really sure if I like the sculpture. I’d need to see it in person I think.
I quite like the piece itself but not the pedestal / base…… it takes away from it I think… XXXMarie
What do the locals call it? There is an interesting tension in the figure. I am wondering what the metal bit on the end of the arm is for?
Its largely ignored by locals – doesn’t get much attention at all. I reckon that’s part of a weapon? I wonder if there was a full bow and arrow at some stage – I’ve checked though and can’t see any original photos with such…. XXXMarie
Oh that’s damning if it doesn’t even get a nickname!!
NOT GOOD!!!! Very UnIrish!!!😅 😂 🤣
