PULL UP A SEAT PHOTO CHALLENGE 2021: #26

A PHOTO CHALLENGE OF PLACES WE SIT…OR MIGHT SIT…OR ART ABOUT SITTING

This is Báite (sunken or drowned), inspired by Dublin’s Viking past.

The 35ft longboat, by artist Betty Newman, is made of steel and bronze with seats of native oak.

Evoking a beached Viking ship, it is lovingly referred to as The Boat that don’t Float by the Dubs!!!!

  1. I’ll add this to ‘The floosie in the jacuzzi’ as an example of Dubliner’s wit. I’ve never seen this one but will look it out next time as it is so representative of what i says it is – a rare thing these days!

    1. Its a nice idea – although it could do with a bit of TLC couldn’t it … the weeds and graffiti don’t add much to the vista!
