    1. Not all of the trail – part of it is actually on an old mining road. That’s usually fine – but Wicklow gets its fair share of rain so the blanket bag can be very soft. Apart from that, the surface is quite uneven anyway and the trail can be quite busy so the boardwalk serves to cut down on insurance claims I’m sure! And of course, it also protects the bog itself from heavy footfall….

  1. This takes me back. We also spent a wonderful time exploring Glendalough. It wasn’t boggy or soggy when we were there, and the views were outstanding. It was either April or May when we visited and it was so lush and green. Wonderful adventure!

    1. It’s one of the first places we take visitors to, Kate! Although we’d rarely bring them up that far – there’s plenty to see and enjoy down around the lakes themselves isn’t there. It’s lovely in every season but truly stunning when the sun shines!

    1. It takes about 3 hours – there’s a bit of a steep pull at either end but the rest isn’t too bad and the views are worth it…

    1. June can be lovely here – if you’re spending time in Dublin and you get good weather then this is a lovely day out – ticks all the boxes – natural beauty, early Irish history and then a pint in the pub!!
