Located in the Rif Mountains just off the main road between Meknes and Tetouan, the town of Chefchaouen must be one of the most popular destinations in Morocco. The jumble of blue, red and white Lego pieces you see on approach gives a hint of what’s in store. Founded in 1471, the blue washed buildings attract hordes of tourists but it’s still possible to escape the crowds in the main squares and alleys and enjoy the spectacle in the quieter cobbled lanes.
We certainly had no blue skies for our visit as the following photos will show but it didn’t take away from the beauty and enjoyment of the town.
