A PHOTO CHALLENGE OF PLACES WE SIT…OR MIGHT SIT…OR ART ABOUT SITTING

Chair (1961, Picasso)

Picasso likened his chair to something that was run over by a steamroller! He created the design on paper, which he cut out and folded. A craftsman then transferred the idea to sheet metal.
It looks as though it could just be unfolded and flattened out on the floor – lending it a simplicity which is accentuated by its plain white colour.
I wouldn’t fancy sitting on it though!!!
To play along:

It doesn’t look comfortable at all!
Not built for its functionality that’s for sure!
I wonder what the craftsman who cut it out thought of the commission?!
He wasn’t going to refuse Picasso – that’s for sure – what a commission!
Not the most comfortable chair, but we can still celebrate creativity 🙂 Happy Friday!
It looks great I think – just rather useless!!!
What an amazing piece of art!
I did think it looked like paper to me – so the craftsman obviously did a good job making the translation to metal!
And no, certainly doesn’t look like a comfortable seat!
Wouldn’t be much use in a restaurant – or a doctor’s waiting room😅 😂
Exactly!!!
It is a great sculpture. It would be good for someone who didn’t want guests sticking around for long.
….or if you were interviewing someone…. really put them under pressure!😅 😂
