This is the Peace Bridge in Derry, Northern Ireland. Opened in 2011, it was designed to connect the unionist and nationalist communities on opposite banks of the River Foyle. Two identical halves – each suspended from a single, sloping pylon – overlap at the centre to form a structural handshake across the river.





A bridge with real meaning! How amazing, and what a lovely sentiment. Let’s hope it works to unite the city forever.
