We visited Meteora in 2022 – thrilled to finally get there after looking at pictures of the place for years!
That top one is gorgeous, the property surrounded by trees. The bare landscape around though illustrates how much native woodland Ireland has lost down the centuries.
That’s from Donegal. My own grandmother’s was similar – the house surrounded by conifers to try and break the wind. Isn’t it hard to believe – just looking at it – that the area would have once been woodland – nothing there now but bog…
