  1. I prefer the native hedgerows, too, Marie. Especially as the early flowering Willow and Blackthorn fade, we are now being treated to an abundance of Hawthorn blossom. It’s a sure sign that spring is turning into summer.

    1. This is such a lovely time of year around the country Aiva – the hedgerows look beautiful around the fields…

  2. I’m a hedgerow fan too. I admire the fancy hedges but feel relaxed and at home with our flourishing hedgerows

    1. Ah Emma – my dad (a Donegal man and so far from hedges was he reared!!!) loved his pruned hedges – we didn’t have a big garden in Dublin but he’d hedges on all sides and was SO proud of them. When I bought my own house, he was devastated that we weren’t planting any – he couldn’t understand it!

      1. Oh your poor dad! They are so environmentally friendly too. People spend so much time on their gardens in Donegal. I am always impressed/amazed that people have such tidy gardens when they are surrounded by blanket bog!
