A PHOTO CHALLENGE OF PLACES WE SIT…OR MIGHT SIT…OR ART ABOUT SITTING
I love this –
The Calling (2003) by Paddy McCann is located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Two figures call into the distance while standing on chairs which are elevated on 15metre high poles.
Don’t try this at home, folks!!!

To play along:
XingfuMama posts every Friday morning.
- Create a post with a photo of places one sits or might sit, or art about sitting, and maybe a little background or story about the spot or a picture of the view.
- Add a tag “Pull up a seat”.
- Add a link to your post in the comment section, either by writing a comment with your URL or by creating a pingback
Wonderful statues Marie..I wonder who they are calling to
Can’t find much about it at all…. some references to them calling at each other but they’re not looking at each other so that doesn’t make sense…
That’s frustrating.. it’s so much better when there is a story
I agree!
What intriguing sculptures!
Especially as I can’t find out much about them…..
Have a good weekend Sarah…
I think this is the best submission for the challenge that I’ve seen so far, Marie. I’ll look out for these next time I’m in Belfast. Cheers and have a good weekend. Aiva 🙂 xxx
When I saw them last summer I assumed it was just a temporary installation – I’d never noticed them before. Surprised they’ve been there so long…
Hope the sunshine lasts a while for us….Enjoy the weekend. XXXMarei
I’ve never seen them on my trips to Belfast so I’m hoping they are fairly new (two years or so?) otherwise I shall have to think I’m getting a bit doddery and missing important landmarks. They look fabulous.
Alas, its been there since ’03 apparently! I never saw it before either….. its up behind the Cathedral, towards the Albert Clock…tucked a bit into a corner.. I just came across it in passing….
Now that is very interesting~
I’d forgotten about it until I went hunting chair photos….delighted when I found it!!
Nice find Marie.
Thank You Teresa….you never know when a photo will be of use!!
These are amazing Marie!
Thanks Aletta – 🥰
Fascinating art idea.
And yet quite simple…. often the best…..
