This week’s theme from Debbie for One Word Sunday is ENCLOSED

This is SPUMONE – a molded ice cream / semifreddo – usually of 2 or 3 flavours.
And inside…..

…. stuffed with fruit and nuts!
Divine!! (Especially if you’re enjoying it in the Italian sunshine – as we were in Puglia, 2018!!!

I love semifreddo but I’ve never come across this in numerous visits to Italy – is it a regional speciality? It looks amazing!
I’m honestly not sure Sarah but this was the first time we’d had it so maybe it is actually regional… It was amazing!!!
I’ve come across it in the Salento region and some other parts of Apulia.
Have you sampled many? Do they vary much – I can’t remember whether or not we’d a choice of flavours or fillings…
I never actually tried them. I am more a fan of the traditional gelato. I remember seeing them a few years ago when I was in the Monopoli area. They looked quite similar to the ones in the photos.
I tasted mine in Gallipoli so that’s not a huge distance away – maybe they are regional…. XXXMarie
Looks very tasty – and I’m glad you helped the contents escape! 🙂
They escaped all right – but not for long!!!
