I wonder when the Atlantic Ocean was first referred to as ‘The Pond’! It sounds a tad archaic nowadays but here are a few glimpses of the POND from Ireland’s west coast…..

That’s quite the “pond”!
Actually a commentator used the phrase ‘across the pond’ on TV last night, referring to the US. So it’s still in use…although definitely sounded dated!
